Sean Gaskell is a seasoned Technical Operations executive with over 15 years of experience across the pharmaceutical sectors of small molecules, biologics, and gene therapies. He has a proven track record of leading teams to successful product launches and fostering continuous improvement within organizations.

Since May 2023, Sean has been the SVP of Global Drug Substance Operations at Moderna, overseeing the company’s drug substance manufacturing network. Previously, as Chief Technical Officer at Alvotech, he led the transition to commercial operations and launched the first commercial product in 17 countries. At Novartis, he served as VP of Manufacturing Operations & Site Head, establishing the company’s first commercial manufacturing facility for AAV9 gene therapies.

Sean holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and a BSc in Chemistry with Forensic Analysis from Loughborough University. His academic foundation has supported his professional contributions, including several publications in organic chemistry.
