R. Andrew “Andy” Ramelmeier currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Adverum Biotechnologies.
Dr. Ramelmeier is responsible for Technical Operations including Manufacturing, Supply Chain and
Process, Analytical and Formulation development, managing a multi-million budget and commercial
launch and drug supply. Andy has 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, developing
and transferring biological processes, designing and building R&D and GMP manufacturing facilities and
directing contract manufacturers as well as internal manufacturing operations. He contributed to the
development and commercialization of 6 biologics products and supported many more commercial
products. Prior to joining Adverum in September 2023, Andy served as Executive Vice President,
Technical Operations, and oversaw Manufacturing, Quality, Technical development and Supply Chain. .
Prior to Sangamo, Andy held executive roles at Portola Pharmaceuticals Inc (Senior Vice President,
Technical Operations), BioMarin (Vice President, Global Manufacturing, Process Sciences and Facilities),
and Johnson & Johnson (VP Process Sciences). Andy started his career at Merck after completing a post-
doc in Germany. Andy received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins and his Ph.D. in
Chemical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley.
