Anita Chu Li, PharmD is the President of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Palo Alto, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing women in STEM since 1971 through business growth, social change, and innovation. Since joining in 2022, Anita has revitalized the chapter by modernizing its digital presence, leading a rebranding effort, and expanding programs in professional development, mentorship, networking, and recognition. As a pillar of Silicon Valley’s STEM community, AWIS Palo Alto continues to provide vital resources and a strong support network for women in science and technology.
With a strong clinical and biotech background, Anita also advises health tech companies on tackling complex healthcare challenges. Her 15-year career spans clinical practice at Scripps Health in San Diego and the VA Healthcare System before transitioning to biotech. At BioMarin Pharmaceutical, she advanced from Manager of Scientific Communications to Associate Director, Scientific Communications Infrastructure Lead, where she led medical affairs operations and spearheaded technology-driven transformations to support strategic initiatives.
Anita earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.
