
Uwe Buecheler, Ph.D.

Dr. Uwe Buecheler has been with Boehringer Ingelheim for over 32 years. Throughout his career, he has led 30 biologics approvals and launches, including 5 of the top 20 global biopharmaceuticals by sales. Currently, he serves as the Senior Advisor of Biopharmaceuticals to the Board of Managing Directors. Prior to this role, he held the position of Corporate SVP of Biopharmaceuticals. His areas of expertise span CMC development, regulatory affairs, biosafety, quality, and global operations. He played a pivotal role in leading BI’s global biologics network expansions in the US and China, where he spearheaded the pioneering approval of the first Biologics MAH in Shanghai. Additionally, he has successfully overseen major expansion projects in aseptic processing, microbial manufacturing, and large-scale mammalian cell culture operations. At the beginning of his career, prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim, he served as a Research Fellow at Roche in the 1980s. He holds a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Hohenheim and a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology from the University of Heidelberg and Cancer Research Center.
